The Global Organic Textile Standard, also known as GOTS, was developed together with leading standards planners. The aim of this collaboration was to define requirements that would be recognised worldwide. Since its introduction in 2006 GOTS has already demonstrated its practical feasibility. And it is supported by the growth in consumption of organic fibres, and by the remarkable demand for unified processing criteria from the industry and retail sector.
How you benefit ?
GOTS ensures the organic status of textiles from harvesting of the raw materials through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing all the way to labelling in order to provide credible assurance to the consumer.
Niall Services Pvt. Ltd. is a recognised certification body, which certifies nearly 2000 textile processing facilities each year, including ginning, spinning, weaving/knitting, dyeing & printing and stitching, which is more than two thirds of all GOTS certified facilities in the world. Additionally, we are able to assess textile dyes, auxiliaries and chemical inputs that are used in GOTS production process.
What the standard looks like ?
The standard covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution of all textiles made from at least 70% certified organic natural fibres. The final fibre products may include, but are not limited to, yarns, fabrics, clothes and home textiles. However, this standard does not set criteria for leather products.
How to get certified ?
GOTS certification can be achieved if a company assigns a separate production line, uses approved inputs and continues to meet the given standard social and environmental requirements.
